Sharp spines which cut like razor blades
Surgeonfish from the Acanthuridae family, are so-called due to their scalpel-shaped spines on either side, at the base of their tail. According to the variety, they have one or two pairs, fixed or retractable. They can usually be found in coral reefs looking for algae which they graze on the rocks, or sometimes on a turtle’s shell.
