A nocturnal predator
Part of the Carcharhinidae family, the silvertip shark is a nocturnal predator from the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific region. During the day they lie on the ground in caves and on reef edges. At night they are more active, hunting their prey amongst the rocks with their flat mouth. Like all sharks, males are distinguishable from females by the two structures called claspers or pterygopodes near their tale.
